Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini

Staying on its path to be the leading premium handset maker, Sony Ericsson announced the X10 Mini even prior to the release of the original Xperia X10. It is not surprising anyway that new phones are being announced quite frequently these days especially that the Mobile World Congress is happening in Spain. The X10 Mini brandishes its smaller profile but retained key features that users would want in a smartphone.

The most noticeable difference is the 2.5″ screen which came a lot from being 4″ on the X10. This is very significant considering that the device will be heavily dependent on a touch screen interface. Just think if texting on a 3.2″ is already hard for you, what more pain will the smaller screen bring? Although it uses an alphanumeric virtual keypad similar to a traditional phone, navigating the system would still be hard. Moreover, the smaller screen size would mean less viewing area for pictures and videos.

Anyhow, the X10 Mini still has good features and hardware to back the small profile. It is run by a Qualcomm MSM7227 600Mhz processor with 128mb internal memory. The operating system uses Android 1.6 with Timescape UI where all communication items can be seen such as emails, messages, Facebook updates, tweets, missed calls, etc so that you don’t have to open different applications just to view them. You can choose between connecting to the internet via WiFi or the fast 3G HSPA network. There is a 5megapixel camera, A-GPS, and FM radio in case you need it.

The main selling point of the X10 Mini is its size. Real world experience is yet to be tested.

eXperience Sony Xperia X2

Managing all the documents and stuff in your office could be a little too much for you. Sure you can bring a netbook anywhere since they are really light and portable but they are still something that takes up space in your bag or portfolio. So how about bringing your office with you in an interface that is very similar to your computer?

The Xperia X2 is the second incarnation of Sony Ericsson’s endeavor to capitalize on the smartphone market. What they offer is functionality and style. For functionality, there you have is a Windows Mobile 6.5 and a full slideout QWERTY keyboard for easy typing of text messages or emails. Style is a factor of course since even businessmen want some style right? It has a black finish that is like a piano’s surface with silver on the keyboard that feels like metal.

You can watch films in high definition with the phone’s 3.2″ full touch display screen. Then take pictures or videos with the 8-megapixel resolution in the camera. It has autofocus which is great for taking pictures of documents or if you just want your pictures of your friends with high clarity. This also has A2DP support so if you have bluetooth speakers, you can wirelessly stream your music without having to dock or use a cord.

I like the way that a 3.5mm audio jack is used so I can use my favorite earphones. Memory can be expanded by using up to 16GB of microSD but a 4GB microSD will be included.

I like the way that I will be able to mix office productivity and fun with the Xperia X2.
