HTC Hits the Windows Phone 7 Market with Three New Stunning Phones

The battle of the Windows Phone 7 is on! And HTC is on to the task with a great head start in Europe as it’s scheduled to launch three hot new mobile phones of its own on October 21. The three flagship Windows Phone 7 models are the HD7, Mozart 7 and the Trophy 7. The Mozart and Trophy will feature a 480×800 resolution WVGA LCD screen, a fast 1GHz Qualcom MSM8250 processor, 576MB worth of RAM, 8GB internal storage, 720p video recording and Dolby Mobile and SRS surround sound.

The Mozart has the upper hand over the Trophy as it is encased in a lighter aluminum unibody construction with 3.7 inch display and a superior 8 megapixel camera with Xenon flash. Trophy on the other hand will only be featuring a 5 megapixel camera but it has a slightly larger 3.8-inch screen and is expected to be more affordable between the two models. HTC Trophy 7 will be carried exclusively by Vodafone and Mozart will be limited to Orange network subscribers in UK, France, Spain and Switzerland and Deutsche Telekom in Germany.

America gets to have the HTC HD7 thru Sprint around next year. HTC 7 Pro will feature a sliding and tilting QWERTY keyboard. It comes with the same 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 576MB RAM, 5MP camera with 720p video, and WVGA display. The HTC 7 Pro has the smallest screen out of the three HTC Windows phones at 3.6 inches and it is the heaviest too at 183.5 grams but on the bright side, it also has the largest built-in storage at 16GB.

Acer beTouch E100

Acer wasn’t really known for its smartphones. The company is rather known in the field of computers where it has made its name as one of the best. However, they have partially dipped its toes in the phones segment primarily due to the closeness of the field with computers. Still, Acer wants to penetrate the segment even more with the addition of new phones and the E100 is one of them.

The beTouch E100 is one of the cellphones under the beTouch line with two being Windows Phone and one being an Android. The E100 has Windows 6.5 which carries a lot of touch friendly optimizations. The 3.2″ screen invites the user to touch it and feel the virtual navigation. With Windows built in, Office applications can be viewed on the device such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, OneNote and run Outlook as well as Gmail and Hotmail.

Surfing the internet is also fast with the 3G capability of this handset with a maximum data rate of 7.2Mbps. With this, imbedded social networking apps such as Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Blogger will run fast. Assisted GPS on Google Maps with Latitude, Street View, Traffic, POI Search also loads easier.

The processors clocks at 528Mhz which would make the system fast but could also be the reason for the 5 hours of talk time whereas the iPhone could last for about 8 hours. One user disliked the phone for the lack of WiFi capability unless you are on unlimited surfing plan.

If you’re young, cool (on a unlimited surfing plan), and wants to have a smartphone, then the beTouch would be a good option for you.

Aspen Windows Phone from Sony Ericsson

With all the Android, Web OS, BlackBerry, Symbian and iPhone OS that vie for the smartphone market share, let us not forget that Microsoft is still at it with their Windows Phone platform. Yeah, it has been renamed and dropped the Mobile term to simply name Windows Phone instead of Windows Mobile Phone. Still, the operating system would remain as Windows Mobile.

The Sony Ericsson Aspen is a member of the GreenHeart portfolio which could lessen the guilt on spending for another phone. The GreenHeart line of products uses recyclable materials and eliminated identified toxic substances in the production process that can harm the environment.

The Aspen is quite loaded in terms of its features. It has Windows Mobile 6.5.3 which has been completely redesigned from the traditional Windows Mobile look to allow more finger friendly operations; totally eliminating the need for a stylus even digging deep in the system. The new OS now also allow capacitive touch screens that can drastically enhance the touch screen experience. The web browser speed has also been improved (but you can always install a new one if you feel the Internet Explorer is still slow). This smartphone is targeted to the business users with the QWERTY keyboard in place for long message composition or could also be a perfect smartphone for text enthusiasts.

Other features of the phone include a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, 2.4″ flush touch display, A-GPS with Google Maps, WiFi, and expandable using a microSD. The phone weighs 130grams with dimensions of 17 x 60 x 12.45 mm.

For a more feature rich smartphone, look at the Sony Xperia X2.
