Acer Neotouch

Smartphones are becoming increasingly popular these days and Acer is among the youngest players in the industry. Just recently, this company has just introduced an amazing handheld device called Neotouch. This Smartphone is jam-packed with a plethora of features and is designed to deliver satisfying performance. It comes with 3.8” high-definition screen where you can watch videos and built-in 3.5mm audio jack which allows you to listen to your favorite tunes. Despite being lightweight (130g), this compact phone is equipped with powerful 1GHz processor, high-speed 3G+ connectivity, and integrated Wi-Fi.

What would make you love this handset even more is that it comes with easy-to-use virtual keyboard. It also features 5MP Autofocus camera with LED flash so you can take images with excellent quality. Through this, you can also record quality live videos. For businessmen, Neotouch is ideal as it offers comprehensive set of productivity applications such as Mobile Internet, Mail, MS Office, and others. It also allows you to connect with your loved ones so easily via email, windows live messenger, voice calls, and text messages.

Acer Neotouch can also be of great help to drivers as it is outfitted with assisted GPS where you can access Google Maps complete with street view, latitude, traffic, and POI search. If you own other Acer devices such as notebook, the bonus for you is that you can take advantage of wireless and web-based synchronization, letting you manage your contact and calendar and transfer videos and photos to other Acer devices. You can easily navigate this amazing gadget using your fingers or the stylus that comes with the product.

Acer beTouch E100

Acer wasn’t really known for its smartphones. The company is rather known in the field of computers where it has made its name as one of the best. However, they have partially dipped its toes in the phones segment primarily due to the closeness of the field with computers. Still, Acer wants to penetrate the segment even more with the addition of new phones and the E100 is one of them.

The beTouch E100 is one of the cellphones under the beTouch line with two being Windows Phone and one being an Android. The E100 has Windows 6.5 which carries a lot of touch friendly optimizations. The 3.2″ screen invites the user to touch it and feel the virtual navigation. With Windows built in, Office applications can be viewed on the device such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, OneNote and run Outlook as well as Gmail and Hotmail.

Surfing the internet is also fast with the 3G capability of this handset with a maximum data rate of 7.2Mbps. With this, imbedded social networking apps such as Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Blogger will run fast. Assisted GPS on Google Maps with Latitude, Street View, Traffic, POI Search also loads easier.

The processors clocks at 528Mhz which would make the system fast but could also be the reason for the 5 hours of talk time whereas the iPhone could last for about 8 hours. One user disliked the phone for the lack of WiFi capability unless you are on unlimited surfing plan.

If you’re young, cool (on a unlimited surfing plan), and wants to have a smartphone, then the beTouch would be a good option for you.

Aspen Windows Phone from Sony Ericsson

With all the Android, Web OS, BlackBerry, Symbian and iPhone OS that vie for the smartphone market share, let us not forget that Microsoft is still at it with their Windows Phone platform. Yeah, it has been renamed and dropped the Mobile term to simply name Windows Phone instead of Windows Mobile Phone. Still, the operating system would remain as Windows Mobile.

The Sony Ericsson Aspen is a member of the GreenHeart portfolio which could lessen the guilt on spending for another phone. The GreenHeart line of products uses recyclable materials and eliminated identified toxic substances in the production process that can harm the environment.

The Aspen is quite loaded in terms of its features. It has Windows Mobile 6.5.3 which has been completely redesigned from the traditional Windows Mobile look to allow more finger friendly operations; totally eliminating the need for a stylus even digging deep in the system. The new OS now also allow capacitive touch screens that can drastically enhance the touch screen experience. The web browser speed has also been improved (but you can always install a new one if you feel the Internet Explorer is still slow). This smartphone is targeted to the business users with the QWERTY keyboard in place for long message composition or could also be a perfect smartphone for text enthusiasts.

Other features of the phone include a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, 2.4″ flush touch display, A-GPS with Google Maps, WiFi, and expandable using a microSD. The phone weighs 130grams with dimensions of 17 x 60 x 12.45 mm.

For a more feature rich smartphone, look at the Sony Xperia X2.

Apple’s OSX, Palm webOS, Symbian, Android, and Windows Mobile are just some of the operating systems that you can choose from the array of smartphones available in the market today. But, wouldn’t it be better if you have the freedom to switch between operating systems? Well, the Compulab Exeda can! One of its features is the ability to switch between the Android and Windows Mobile platforms.

The Exeda has a 3.5″ VGA touch screen display that is bright enough to be readable even with daylight, a full 5 row QWERTY keyboard, and a touchpad that works like a mouse, same as the one present in the Samsung i780.

Being a smartphone targetted to business users, connectivity is a key factor to be considered. That’s why it has WiFi, Bluetooth, 2 USB ports, and an extension cable with ethernet port! Talk about being connected!

Other features are 2 megapixel camera with flash, GPS, 1GB of internal memory (2x512mb), 520MHz CPU, and a micro SD slot with micro SDHC support. The Exeda also has a 3000mAh battery that is a high amount as compared to other cellphones, but its features are also loaded so it might just be sufficient.

There is still no price for the Exeda, but it is expected that it will be available in March.

The Exeda has a tagline of “a mobile device that means business”, and it seems that they just really mean it.
