Surfing the web is just like riding the Hawaiian waves, it’s not just the water, the surfer and of course the wipe out but the gears as well. If there are the cool ways of surfing the sea, there are also cool ways to surf the net and the Viliv X70 UMPC is your kick ass board. Even just sporting half the size of the CrunchPad, this web tablet is no pushover because it can do more, much more than simple web browsing and media playback.

Viliv X70

The Viliv X70 web tablet is powered by a 1.33GHz Intel Atom processor and a sibling of the Viliv S5. The X70’s features though will put the S5 in one tough sibling rivalry. Beginning with the display, the X70 has a larger screen size of 7 inches as compared to S5’s 4.8 inches. This makes viewing and navigating web pages easier. The X70 is also thinner than its sibling but still managed to incorporate a webcam for video calls.

One of the finest features of this web tablet is its 32Gig Solid State Drive or SSD. SSD is lighter, more energy efficient, more stable and undeniably faster that the convenient hard disk drive. This makes resuming from stand by merely seconds and gives an overall boost to the device’s performance. No words on the official price yet but you can check here for more updates and information on similar gadgets or other web tablets.

Viliv S5 Premium: Mobility is Key

Smartphones, notebooks, netbooks, PDAs, tablet PCs — there’s one thing that all these have in common, and that’s their focus on mobility. Every new mobile device tries to cram in as much features as they can. Seems to me that their running goal is to keep you out of the office. Well here’s one player that will certainly succeed in that. The Viliv S5 Premium is an MID – Mobile Internet Device. Or if you prefer, you can call it the UMPC – Ultra Mobile PC. So many names for something that’s very small.

The Viliv S5 Premium boasts of 60GB of space, that’s even more than the average office clerk’s working PC. Connectivity won’t be a problem coz it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. And it has a 4.8-inch haptics screen.

A what-tics screen?

It means that it’s not just a touch-screen, the screen touches back. Believe you me, this makes for easier navigation. You can find out more about haptics right here.

But I digress…

The Viliv S5 Premium is slim, compact, and runs on Windows XP Home. So don’t leave home without it.

After showing everybody that tablet notebooks can be netbooks too and even make it gorgeous with their S7, Viliv again has another portable computer up their sleeves.

The Viliv X70 Atom is a full touchscreen Mobile Internet Device (MID) that is designed to be in between work and play. This MID runs on the relatively slower 1.33GHz Intel Atom processor as compared to the S7. The screen of the X70 is a 7 inch superfine touch LCD display that has a screen ratio of 1024×600 which is a good resolution for a 7″ screen, even better than Asus Eee’s 800×600. 1GB of memory is factory installed though upgrade options is not clear. An optional 8/16GB solid state drive storage is offered but if space is a factor, then go for the 30/60GB option of hard disk drive. Connectivity options include WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and WiMax;HSDPA. Of course, the basic mic, USB ports, and a SD/SDHC card slot is included.

Like the Viliv S7, the X70 also has an outstanding battery life of 6 hours on video which is a huge plus for this device. Also, take note that the opertaing system is an option between Linux and Windows XP. Whichever you choose, it seems that Viliv made some user interface enhancements allowing users to easily run applications on the X70 as shown by the large, finger-friendly icons on the screen.

Viliv S7

Prices of conventional tablet PC can really be very expensive. But, with the advent of netbooks, tablet netbook also surfaced. One of them is the Viliv S7.

The Viliv S7 has almost the same hardware as other netbooks but the big difference is its swivel touch screen LCD display, and its whopping battery life worth 7 hours of  Blu-ray HD video playback or 200 hours of standby time. The keyboard is also said to be near that of regular size, and the screen ratio is 1024×600 which is pretty much clear for a 7″ LCD display.

The CPU that will be used is an Intel Atom Silverthorne 1.33/1.86GHz, 1GB of memory, 60GB hard disk drive or an optional 16GB solid state drive, WiFi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth, WiMax; HSDPA, SiRF Star 3 global positioning system, SD/SDHC card slot, stereo speakers, an integrated mic, and a 1.3 megapixel camera.

It can be noted that the Viliv S7′s best assets are: high capacity battery, swivel touch screen, and the ability to play HD videos. The ability to play HD videos mean that it has good processing power which can be a plus to people who push netbooks to do a lot more. Huge battery capacity means longer usage time – good for people who are always on the go. The included operating system will be Windows XP. As for the price, nothing has been announced but expect a higher price tag compared to other netbooks or tablet netbooks that run on Linux.
