Sony Qriocity Lands on Europe and Music Unlimited Coming On the Way

Eleanor Roosevelt once said that at a child’s birth, if a mother could ask a fairy godmother to endow it with the most useful gift, that gift should be curiosity – that was way back when they still don’t have internet and online services. Now, fast forward into the future, she would also agree that a subscription to the new Sony Qriocity online services is not a bad gift idea either.
Qriocity is a network service platform that connects various Sony network-enabled gadgets and devices. It allows consumers to enjoy first-class entertainment across multiple devices and platforms. Using this new network service platform, Sony can bring an assortment of digital multimedia content and services that are “powered by Qriocity” directly in your Sony devices. These include, but are not limited to video, music, game applications, and e-books.

The even better news is that “Video On Demand powered by Qriocity”, a premium streaming video service, will be coming very soon in five European countries including France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the U.K. “Video On Demand powered by Qriocity” offers access to a huge collection of box office hits from 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, MGM, NBC, Paramount Pictures, Sony Picture, The Walt Disney and Warner Bros. along with popular content from best local studios. Countless of these movies are available in High Definition (HD) and can be “rented” with at a touch of a button on some of Sony’s latest network-enabled Bravia TV and Blu-ray Disc players. Another interesting service is the upcoming “Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity” tailored for music aficionados.

Sony’s First Blu-ray 3D Ready Players

Sony Electronics has just launched its new stand-alone Blu-ray 3D ready player – the BDP-S470. This model can be upgraded to be able to play Blu-ray 3D content through a firmware update which will be available this summer. Along this device are other previously-introduced models called BDP-S570 Blu-ray Disc as well as BDV-E770W and BDV-E570 Blu-ray Disc home theater systems.
All these three models are 3D ready so they will allow you to watch Blu-ray Disc movies in Full HD 1080p or DVD in near HD quality. Aside from Blu-ray 3D playback, the moment these models are hooked up to a broadband internet network, they instantly let users stream videos, movies, and music and have access to a plethora of entertainment applications from YouTube, Slacker, Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand, and many other providers. These models are also outfitted with Sony’s Entertainment Database Browser which makes use of Gracenote technologies to enable users to browse important details from a Blu-ray Disc and access related content stored on BRAVIA Internet Video content.

Distinct to these models is the ability of users with an iPod or iPhone touch device to manage these players through a free app tagged as “BD Remote” which can be downloaded from Apple App store. With this application, you can use your iPhone or iPod Touch device as a remote control with the capability of accessing details from Blu-ray disc.

For easy start up, these models also come with Quick Start/Quick Load feature. Once this feature is activated, disc loading is done faster than past models. In fact, stand-alone Blu-ray Disc players can power on and off in almost three seconds. Shipping of these products will start next month. Meanwhile, you can visit Amazon to see the wide range of available Sony Blu-ray players.
