LG X300 Thin and Light Notebook

This slim computer was first introduced during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2010 at Las Vegas last January 7, 2010. It wowed the visitors as LG showcased a flagship model this year for their thin and light category. This notebook has the looks, the appeal, and performance to entice prospective buyers to swipe their credit cards into getting a new computer.

The X300 has a distinct chiclet type keyboard and a sleek white body that might make you compare this to a MacBook Air. While no one can ignore the similarity in design, the inside is pure PC. This computer only weighs very light at 970 grams and ultra thin at 17.5mm! Windows 7 Home Premium comes preinstalled along with additional software that LG has added to the computer. The display is 11.6″ wide and has eschewed the bezel to maximize the viewing area much like a borderless display. To match the elegant screen is the wide touch pad that is seamlessly incorporated with the palm rest.

A 2GB Intel Z500 (Menlow) processor runs all the applications paired with a 2GB RAM. A 128GB SSD storage has been chosen to limit power consumption and maximize portability. The fan-less design eliminates noise, keeps the thin profile of the notebook, and reduces the power consumption. There are two 2-cell batteries that are included in each purchase with each giving a manufacturer rated running time of 3.5 hours which total to 7 hours on both batteries. While a total of 7 hours seems to be the standard for ultraportables, bringing two batteries is just inconvenient and switching between them is such a hassle.

There is an embedded 3G modem chipset to allow users to get online via EDGE or HSDPA when available.

Watch for the X300 since LG promised to let this baby loose in mid March 2010.

Sony Cybershot DSC-TX1 Got Engraved for Christmas

003-450x337The Cybershot name from Sony could be one that might pop up when people are randomly asked about the point and shoot digital camera that they prefer. But who could blame Sony for creating such beautiful digital cameras paired with their marketing efforts that explains the heavy price tags on their devices. They even made one of their cameras, the TX1 in line this season by pimpin’ it out with snowflake engravings along with Safari, Race, and Heart designs.

001-450x337The Sony Cybershot DSC-TX1 is a 10.1 megapixel shooter equipped with the latest BIONZ image processor that makes photos appear vivid and clear. The 4x optical zoom with 8x digital zoom allows you to take pictures of subjects that are out of reach. It has a Vario-Tessar folding lens so no bulky retracting lens that might cramp up your style. The wide 3″ touch screen is easy to navigate and bright enough to be used even outdoors. It has several features like the Optical SteadyShot, Face Detection of up to 8 faces, Smile Shutter, and the iAuto Mode which senses the surroundings and selects the best setting needed to capture the moment. Other cool features include high speed shooting which take 10 shots per second and the 720p video capture resolution.

The Sony Cybershot DSC-TX1 is indeed a good point and shoot especially that a lot of moments can be captured this yuletide season. However, the engraving options aren’t available in the US since it is a Japan exclusive. But hey, with the color options of Silver, Pink, Gray, and Blue, you might not need that fancy engraving after all.
