Yamaha YHT-S400 Home Theater – Sounds Right, Fits Right

A condo unit, a cramped up apartment and a trailer home have one precious thing in common – space. So how do you fit a top of the line home audio system in limited area without having to hug the wall every time you move around the house? The answer is simple, great things doesn’t need to come in big packages – like the new and innovative Yamaha YHT-S400. Yamaha’s take on a two-piece home theater package is composed of an stylishly slim front speaker or sound bar and a unique receiver with an integrated sub-woofer. The sound bar measures 31 inches in length and a mere 2 inches in height. The slim profile let it perfectly sit in front of most monster TVs without blocking the view. For added flexibility, the base of the sound bar can be removed or even adjusted to accommodate a horizontal or vertical speaker position. On the other hand, the receiver with the built-in sub-woofer can be placed in a corner, the floor and a rack to save space. The YHT-S400 wouldn’t be high-end without HD Audio compatibility, that’s why it has three 1080-compatible HDMI inputs that can connect to three HDMI sources including Blu-ray disc players.

The YHT-S400 features the best of Yamaha’s audio technology. Yamaha UniVolume maintains the volume consistent among all channels, programs and sources. YHT-S400 also features Yamaha’s proprietary AIR SURROUND XTREME technology which can deliver a rich “virtual surround” experience. Finally there’s the Extended Stereo technology which makes the sound bar produce audio in a wider and optimum sound field.

Ladybug II iPod Speaker System

ladybug-2-red-angleA quick Google search will reveal how many iPod speaker systems are available in the market. With a bunch of them being just forgettable, it cannot be ignored that there are a few that rise above the rest and show what it means to be good. Take for example the Ladybug speaker system that evolved into a better self which was named Ladybug II.

The Ladybug II really looks nice and suits the younger set of iPod well. Three colors options are available – black, black with chrome accents, and red. Black is more formal and suited for people who look for a more conventional design. Black with chrome accent show a bit more edge and the red design looks very much a lady bug in full spread. The speaker initially looks like a ball, but flip down its wings to full 16.5″ and the dock connector can already be seen with its speakers ready to pump music. There is also a subwoofer at the back for that extra oomph that you want. You can use an outlet to use the speakers or bring it anywhere using 4 AA batteries that unfortunately aren’t included in the package. The whole system is phone interface shielded, meaning you don’t have to go airplane mode when listening to music or bear the irritating interference sound when someone texts or calls.

vesta-Ladybug-IIPackage contains the speaker system, a remote control that is fully functional throughout the whole iPod/iPhone line, dock adapters, A/C power supply adapter, and different outlet adapters.

i-Duck – No Quack, Just Good Old Bathroom Music

You must admit, a yellow rubber ducky floating with you on the tub or in the pool has a certain childish charm into it. However, as you grow up and graduate from all the bubble bath and childish toys, don’t you wish you could “bathe” once more in the memory lane with your favorite ducky without looking like a baby? Meet i-Duck, a delightful little waterproof duck speaker with on-board radio. No more “Squeak! Squeak! Or “Quack! Quack!” on your turf, only the best music being streamed from your mp3 player, mobile phone, iPod and other portable media players. The irony is nobody would be laughing when this cute little duck comes spouting mean guitar rifts, drum combos and of course – no duck related irony would be complete without some ear-bleeding profanities that only the best trashy music can offer.
iDuck
The i-Duck comes in pair; there’s the yellow waterproof duck wireless speaker and its perfect partner – no other than an egg shaped transmitter. Now that is some pretty good bathroom pun. This adorable gadget is very easy to set-up; just plug 3.5 mm connector from the “egg” transmitter to any supported music player and you’re quite ready to go. Just wait as your music collection gets wireless played by i-Duck while you relax and enjoy your bath. Getting tired of your same old tunes? With i-Duck, you can also listen to FM stations for more music variety.

Tubular XS-SR3 iPod Dock from JVC

JVC-XS-SR3When looking for some new gadgets to fill your home, consider first specifications then aesthetics. Well, even though the looks just come second, it is important that your gadget would fit your style and preference. Take for example the newly announced JVC XS-SR3iPod dock. It has a tubular design that looks like a circlet surrounding the iPod around which JVC calls wraparound design with a glossy black or silver finish. It has two decently powerful 2.5 watt speakers on both ends of the tube delivering quality music enough to fill a room.

JVC-XS-SR3-blackThis iPod dock has neodymium magnets that ensure clean, crisp sound, while the Dolby Virtual Surround technology makes the impression of a wider sound field. This is in fact according to JVC, the first speaker system to have a Dolby Decoder in it. This technology is used when watching movies, which this dock also promotes with its rotating cradle. Usually, docks have an upright cradle which is the normal position for putting your iPod. But since the iPod Touch and iPhone has landscape viewing capabilities, the cradle on this sound machine can also go landscape mode which is perfect for movie watching. However, the idea might sound weird that you watch a movie closely on the tiny 3.5″ screen while the speaker is blasting right in front of your face. The XS-SR3 has an external input socket for use with DVD players, laptops, computers, etc.

This iPod dock is not yet on store shelves but a couple of JVC iPod docks are already at Amazon.
