Sony Ericsson W995

You might have noticed that some of the recent posts were about new phones from different manufacturers. This is because of the ongoing Mobile World Congress (Feb 16-19) at Barcelona, Spain. This is the gathering where a lot of companies show off what they have in line for the coming year.

One of the things that got my attention was this Sony Ericsson W995. The Sony Ericsson W-series phones were really marketed for their music capabilities until now. This is because it also has an 8.1 megapixel camera! It is hitting two birds with one stone – you get great camera functionality along with quality audio experience.

The W995′s camera features are its image stabilization and video stabilization for blur-free shots, autofocus capability for clearer pictures, photo flash, face detection, photo fix, and a 16x digital zoom! That’s pretty loaded.

Music features would be its primary priority since it is, after all, a Walkman phone. First, it has the Walkman Player built in of course, clear stereo speakers, clear bass, a 3.5mm audio jack and SensMe. SensMe is a feature which can create a playlist for you containing songs that are same with the mood of the current.

Overall, don’t forget that it is still a phone and the 16x digital zoom might be nice, but picture quality and digital zoom are inversely proportional. No worries though because knowing that it came from Sony Ericsson, it’s main purpose — as a phone, surely wasn’t neglected.

Not too long ago, Sony dominated the portable music device scene using a cassette tape with their Sony Walkman. Then came the iPod which totally took over the portable music player market. Now, Sony is trying to regain their footing on the market that they had back in the ’90s, with their newly released Walkman NWZ – X1000.

The first thing that you’ll notice is the large 3″ Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED). Not only does is this the optimum display, it serves as a touch screen too! The design is very minimal, and not a lot of buttons cramp up the face of the player thus, allowing the user to have free touch access to the interface.

The X series is the first portable media player to have digital noise reduction! The unique digital noise cancellation software blocks ambient noise that can ruin the rich music experience that one often gets from media players. You can expect top-notch sound quality from the X1000, as it is equipped with Sony’s Digital Audio Clear Technologies.

If you’re on the go, and aching to get the latest tune you recently heard on the radio, the Sony Walkman NWZ X1000 allows you this instant gratification through their built-in Wi-Fi. This will allow you to browse the web, watch videos online or download podcasts easily with the numerous hotspots available.

As of now, there is still no word on pricing, but it will be available in summer. Color option is limited to black. A 16GB and 32GB version will be available when this media player gets released.
