Give Pizza a Clean Cut with Pizza Pro 3000

Pizza Pro 3000
I don’t know about you but I’m a pizza kind of person. For all I care, pizza is the next big thing after the invention of the wheel. You just got to love the Italians for their great culinary contribution to humanity, for without pizza beer and NFL, nights would never be the same. Pizza is a food of traditions. From dough spinning and tossing, toppings and secret ingredient is passed on and vary from family to family or restaurants.

We owe it on our part as consumers to treat the pizza with the respect it deserves, slice it with reverence and eat it with all the love. Pizza cutters and knife often times mutilate the pizza rather than slice it, which is why we need the proper tool to do the job. The Pizza Pro 3000 is the professional of pizza cutters when knife is just so amateur. This Pizza Pro 3000 features an ergonomic handle close to the cutter to make it easier putting pressure in each succulent slice. The device is designed to maximize downward force to cut right through any toppings, crust and base for that clean and crisp cut, no more messy uncut slices. As a bonus, it even has a safety guard to prevent any rogue pizza debris flying as you cut the pizza.

The “Smart Gun” – A Gun that won’t Fire unless used by its intended Owner!

"Smart Gun" Technology

The “Smart Gun” is a gun actually “smart” enough to recognize its handler, and prevent it from being discharged by unauthorized users. This technology would immensely decrease the violent crimes that are committed with stolen black market guns, and accidental gun deaths of children and others would become practically obsolete. Several private gun manufactures currently have different innovations in research and development., the government has allotted special funding to help aid the development of this technology for police officers and military personal.

The basic idea behind the “Smart Gun” is integrated electronics. Different sensors located in the grip and trigger of the firearm make this technology possible. This technology includes radio frequency coding, touch memory, fingerprint ID, and other possibilities. Each idea creating the assurance that only the intended user of the firearm would be able to use it.

The radio frequency controlled sensors are activated by a transponder worn by authorized users. This technology is being researched for police units that would allow department issued firearms to be used by any officer wearing a transponder. There is a blocking pin located in the trigger mechanism that is removed when the gun receives a coded signal sent out by the transponder. One of the issues with this technology is in the amount of distance between the firearm and transponder, most firearms taken from, and used against police officers are being used at very close range which would still allow for the gun to be used by an unauthorized user.

Fingerprint recognition utilizes common fingerprint recognition technology. The trigger is embedded with sensors that are pre-set to the fingerprint of its users trigger finger and will not discharge until that fingerprint is recognized. The issue with this technology is a common problem with fingerprint recognition, it can be compromised much too easily making the gun difficult to use even for the owner.

Somewhat like fingerprint recognition, touch memory is also an idea being researched by gun manufacturers. The touch memory system utilizes sensors located in the grip of the gun that is pre-programmed with specific hand grip pressure from the hand of the intended user. This also comes with the same issues of delayed recognition which is not ideal for immediate safety needs.

Safety, security, and reliability are the most important aspects of utilizing this “smart” technology. There is a fear of reduced gun safety by civilian gun owners due to a false sense of security and immediate reliability concerns with police and military use. This technology can save millions of lives and would change the world but there are still some bugs that need to be worked out.

The BEAR – Vecna’s Lifesaving Humanoid Robot

The BEAR or Battlefield Extraction-Assist Robot is a search and rescue marvel. This humanoid style robot can rescue people in dangerous situations while avoiding the possibility of losing more human life. It was initially created for battlefield extraction but has been recognized for its other possibilities. Being the same size as an average man it can travel places that are not safe for humans but with the ease of a human. It can enter unsafe buildings and structures as well as biologically or chemically contaminated areas and search for survivors. It has the capability of lifting up to 500 lbs, making it possible to remove debris and carry most any human to safety.

The BEAR is created using three elements, an extremely powerful hydraulic upper-body, high mobility tracked legs, and dynamic balancing behavior (DBB) that allow it to balance upright on its ankles, knees, or hips. The hydraulic upper-body is similar to common “earth moving” equipment only in a smaller scale. The dynamic balancing behavior makes it possible for the BEAR to maneuver over any terrain, combined with the independent tracked legs it can travel on its knees or with its legs flat on the ground across treacherous areas while carrying a human body.

Applications:

  • Casualty Extraction
  • Building evacuation
  • Long-distance transport
  • Search & rescue
  • Hospital patient transfers
  • Eldercare mobility aid
  • Hazardous materials handling
  • Mine rescue
  • Logistics & heavy lifting
  • Zero-infrastructure warehouse automation

Vecna originally received funding from TATRC, the Army’s Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center. Originally the BEAR was considered to be limited to battlefield extraction. Once the BEAR prototype was tested, the possibilities for this innovation started to surface. Vecna now promotes the BEAR to be useful in healthcare as a “Transfer Bot”. They would work with patients who suffer from mobility impairment in hospitals and nursing homes, assisting in lifting and moving the patients thus providing a better standard of care. Currently the BEAR is completely controlled by a human with remote access but plans for the BEAR include creating semi-autonomous actions which would allow for the BEAR to complete a task without the need of human guidance.

You can read more about the BEAR at Vena’s website http://www.vecnarobotics.com, Vecna has many great innovations and ideas that can change the world and attempt to make it a safer and better through the use of robotics.

iPhone leather case: Safe and easy to fit in your pocket

Well this whole week is getting sticky into iPhone and cool accessories that mingle around with it. Just 2 months before the launch of iPhone, Incipio comes out designing the cool looking leather case that fits iPhone exactly in. The case looks very lucrative and the neat size that makes you to carry in it in style and secure your iPhone including other stuffs like your credit cards.

Unlike other cases, Incipio has sum up to make it more unique and safety for your iPhones when not in use. There is a small note book in left side of the case. It reminds me of school days how I always carry such note book incase I need to write down something in hurry. The flip case with magnetic flip has slots for keeping your credit cards and some cash as well. You can also put a pen, visiting cards and other stuffs making it as kind of wallet that takes your iPhone in.

Not really a ground breaking or even a gadget but I felt since I was talking on iPhone all this week and I thought this neat looking case could hold a stylish and protects your iPhone with extra space for other things. You can choose options with red, brown/tan, black and the combination of pink and white, whatever suits your preference and taste.

Jetsons watch out, we’ll soon be more advanced than you!

Haven’t you always wanted to fly when you were a kid and feel the wind on your face? Or maybe be like George Jetson and his family and zoom around everywhere with just a push of a button? Now, you probably can.

Glenn Martin has designed a jet pack that may sound a  little weird if you call it that because this “jet pack” has no jet. This invention runs even without those rocket-like afterburners we see in most movies that launches people high up in the air. Think Wile. E. Coyote with a whoosh but without those flames that burns his butt.

This jet pack, let’s just call it as so okay people, utilizes two 200 horsepower fans which runs on gasoline. Since it uses gas, you can just imagine how loud this thing can be.

Glenn said that this jet pack may be the most safest one out there because it doesn’t have blazing afterburners plus, it has its own parachute tucked away inside to give the user a more confident and safer flying time.

Hopefully, it will be mass produced soon and we’ll all be flying and zooming in the air like carefree children. Of course, traffic signs and lights still have to be installed to prevent people, who have been drinking and flying, from crashing into one another.

Oh and you need to have $250,000 to avail this baby. Anyone kind enough to lend me some moolah?
