Philips Streamium NP2900 Review

When the Logitech Squeezebox Boom came out last year, it set a new standard for Wi-Fi radios. Yes, it was expensive, but it offered excellent sound quality, a smart design, and tons of features in a tiny package – no competing products even came close. The Philips NP2900 is the first real competitor to the Boom’s dominance of the high-end Wi-Fi radio market and this is the Editor’s Choice for this week.NP2900_37-GAL-global
Product Summary:

The good:

For its size, the Philips NP2900 gives you wireless access to your PC music, internet radio and Rhapsody online music service – all delivered by the immersive LivingSound and superb FullSound technologies. It is wall mountable, has a unique color 4-inch large screen that displays album art, it features Alphanumerical search for speedy access, it boasts a 4-speaker system for superb sound, it sports a stylish black exterior with a silver band, and its ready and easy to set up – right out of the box. The inclusion of a clock and alarm clock also make sense.

The bad:

The Philips NP2900 lacks support for Pandora, Last.fm, or Slacker. The interface can also get sluggish with large music libraries. But the biggest problem with the Philips NP2900 is its street price, currently $330 – which is more than $50 than the Boom is selling for. It’s hard to justify that extra cost, when the Boom offers more streaming music services, has more responsive controls, and sounds just as good.

Bottom line:

The Philips NP2900 is an excellent Wi-Fi radio, with a particularly attractive design, with a unique color display, and with solid sound quality, but its high price will limit its audience.

PHILIPS Bluetooth Notebook Mouse: Provides All-Day Comfort and Full-Freedom While Navigating Your Notebook

If you use your notebook a lot, then for sure you know how important a computer mouse is. It is a very effective way to navigate onscreen, unlike if you just rely on your touch pad to access those files and click through them one after another. Although your notebook’s touch pad eliminates the need for added accessory such as your mouse, wait until your fingers start to get sweaty while you are working on a report or a presentation. That would be so uncomfortable, right? So, before you get annoyed further, treat yourself to a new computer mouse that provides all-day comfort and full-freedom such as the PHILIPS Bluetooth Notebook Mouse.

philips_bluetooth_mouseDesigned primarily for easy navigation of web pages, spreadsheets, and other digital files, the Philips Bluetooth Notebook Mouse lets you scroll through lengthy documents without the need to install extra software. It features a 360°TouchControl™, so even while relaxing on the sofa or on your bed, you can still have full control of your notebook.

And take note, it works even without a surface. How is that possible? Well, this Bluetooth mouse is designed with a touch sensor that gives you all the freedom to move the cursor in all directions. Just put your finger on the sensor, and you can already navigate faster through 360 degrees with more seamless cursor movements. And whether you’re left-handed or right-handed, you can expect this device to provide you with all-day comfort that you need.

Now, when the power is already low, the low battery indicator lights up. Simply take out the charging cable that is stored inside the mouse, plug it in to your notebook, and off you go to another rounds of navigating and clicking.

So, don’t let those sweaty fingers get the fun out of using your notebook! Treat yourself with this full-freedom mouse. Or, check out more Philips SPM mouse here!

Philips’ GoGear Ariaz and GoGear Opus

Philips has just launched two new PMPs in their GoGear line-up: the GoGear Ariaz and the GoGear Opus. Though not relatively chic as the GoGear Luxe, which captured the hearts of women around the world, and with the absence of a touchscreen display, the GoGear Ariaz and the GoGear Opus are welcome additions to the GoGear family.

The GoGear Ariaz is a bit smaller than GoGear Opus. The latter comes with a bigger 2.8-inch LCD display while the GoGear Ariaz comes with a 2-inch LCD display. Aside from their LCD display differences, they are also quite different when you’re talking about storage capacities because Opus is offered in 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB options, while Ariaz is available from 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB only.

The GoGear Opus is also equipped with Bluetooth connectivity making it a good choice for wireless headphones and BBC iPlayer support. Whereas the GoGear Ariaz is integrated with an FM tuner. Both models support MP3, WMA, AAC audio, MPEG4 SP, WMV9 videos and JPEG image formats and can do voice recording as well.

Music lovers, you still have one month to save up for these drool-worthy gadgets. The GoGear Ariaz and Opus will be available in Europe this April with a starting price of $100 for GoGear Ariaz and $126 for GoGear Opus. But if you want to test drive the GoGear line, warm up with an existing GoGear model.
