DSLR aficionados wouldn’t be interested with this and would perhaps say that this latest from Samsung isn’t worth considering. Why? Well simply because Samsung’s HZ25W doesn’t seem to bring anything terribly new to the category, it’s more than fashionably late, and just brought the same bag of pretzels to the party that Nikon, Kodak, Olympus, and Pentax did. Be that as it may, the Samsung HZ25W also deserves a second look because according to Reid Sullivan, senior vice president of audio/video and digital imaging marketing at Samsung Electronics America, photographers of all skill levels are going to be drawn to the camera’s features. 
The camera can record 720p HD video using H.264 compression, an advanced codec that allows users to record video for longer periods of time. For added versatility, users can zoom in and out while recording video, taking full advantage of both the camera’s 26mm wide-angle focal length and 24x optical zoom. The Samsung HZ25W also provides aperture and shutter priority and a full manual shooting mode for those users looking to exercise more control over camera settings and users have the option to shoot in RAW (DNG1.1), JPEGs, or both right on the camera. And after pictures are taken, users can easily search for a specific image they have saves on their memory card through the camera’s Smart Album feature.
Other features include color electronic viewfinder (EVF), easy-to-use Smart dial, Smart Auto, Face Recognition, Face Detection, Smile Shot, and Blink Detection. Beauty Shot can also be found on the Samsung HZ25W. It will be out in October with a suggested retail price of $399.99.
