Bandai RilakKuma Will Melt Your Heart Away

netbookNetbooks were unthinkable before due to the fact that they are under powered and won’t really make sense at all. But not, we are literally swamped with wave after wave of netbooks from different manufacturers from some Chinese brand to brands catering to the higher end market.

However, even after these waves of netbooks, there isn’t significant changes such as huge increase in processing power and such. Rather, they sometimes just differ in shape and form factor which since they all come with the basics such as same Atom CPU, a couple of GB of memory, 160GB or more of hard drive capacity etc.

This RilakKuma Betbook from Bandai isn’t really different from the plethora of netbooks out there. It has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, 150GB of had drive space, 8.9″ 1024×600 resolution LCD screen, WiFi b/g, a camera and a 1Seg Digital TV Tuner, and weighs just over a kile(1.08kg). This netbook surely isn’t different as the others but its best asset is its looks.

The shell of this is RilakKuma, a popular bear cartoon character in Japan which translates “Relax Bear” in English. The whole body of this awfully kawaii netbook is brown and has a cartoonish bear face on the lid which would make it like a a celebrity among all the netbooks and laptops in a coffee shop.

Getting this cute computing gadget wouldn’t be easy literally and on your pocket since only 500 units are produced and are sold over at LalaBit Market’s online store for around $860 (Ouch!).

MSI X-Slim X400 14-Inch Laptop Coming Soon

msi-x-slim-x400

Taiwan-based MSI is apparently planning to launch a new 14-inch variant of its freshly released line of ultra-portable, slim computer systems, dubbed X-Slim series. The company’s latest X-Slim laptop will be marketed as the X400 and will likely be launched in time for this year’s Computex computer show, held in Taipei between June 2 and June 6.

Although there are no official details and complete specifications being presented at this time, the system will likely be built on the same Intel CULV platform that is featured inside MSI’s other X-Slim notebooks, including the X320, X340, and X600. Also, like the X600, the X400 is reportedly to be offered in black, white, and silver colors.

Again, hard specifications on the X400 are unavailable except for the 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo as the X340, 2GB of RAM and a roughly 320GB hard drive, but none of that information has been confirmed by MSI. So, unfortunately, we still have to wait for the official specifications of the new model, which will likely become available or will be revealed in time for Computex 2009 in Taipei, Taiwan.

No words on pricing and availability also for this 14-inch laptop. We just expect it to be inexpensive because MSI’s systems always come in affordable prices consequently making them accessible to a wider range of users.

In the meantime, you might want to find yourself an MSI X-Slim netbook here at bargain prices.

11.6-inch Acer Aspire One 751 Gets Previewed

acer-aspire-one-751-netbook-0

This one has been in the oven for some time. And now, at long last, we’re finally able to see official images of the Acer Aspire One 751 that we first heard about in early March. Obviously aimed at the likes of Dell’s Mini 12, this 11.6-inch that is larger than usual netbook still packs the all-too-familiar suite of “netbook internals.” Let’s see what this new Acer netbook baby has to offer then.

It features (besides an 11.6-inch screen) an Intel Atom Z520 processor paired with the US15W Express Chipset, and support for up to 2GB of RAM. Well, that is slightly different from the original rumors – when the netbook was believed to be the Aspire One 731 that pegged the CPU as Intel’s Atom Z530. Other features include built-in Bluetooth, WiFi, card reader, 3 USB ports, Ethernet jack, and LED-backlit 200-nit display running at WXGA 1366 x 768 resolution.

Both 3-cell and 6-cell batteries are also offered, with runtime estimated at up to 8hours with the latter. The €399 version will ship with XP, 1GB of memory, and 160GB of storage. For €499, you’ll get 2GB of RAM, Vista Home Basic and 250GB of storage. It looks like a well spec’d and well priced piece of a kit – just an inch thick, light, and nicely styled – appealing, in other words. We’re expecting it to be on sale sometime this month in the UK markets but no words yet as to when this will be available in the U.S.

But behold! You can already prepare for your next big purchase by getting yourself an Acer Aspire One 751 bag right here. There are various styles to choose from, such as normal netbook bag tote, backpack, or a messenger bag style. Who says you can’t be a chic geekie?

Lenovo Yoga: The Pocket-Sized Netbook

lenovo-pocket-yoga-3

Is this the netbook that will give the Sony VAIO P a pretty tough fight for the consumer dollar? We won’t know until Lenovo releases this netbook. The Lenovo Pocket Yoga has just shown its face but has yet to reveal its cards. Yes, it doesn’t have specifications yet but its size and shape would likely dictate an Intel Atom processor or smaller chip. What we’re aware of for now is that, it is a computer that could be placed inside your pocket.

According to Johnson Li, the Director of Lenovo’s Beijing Innovation Center, the Pocket Yoga is a netbook that users would conventionally bring with them. With the Lenovo Pocket Yoga, you can do certain tasks while travelling or while you’re out of the office — like check email, create/edit/send documents, take down notes, and surf the web. Covered in leather, this portable device has touchscreen support via stylus and inherits the 360-degree soft hinge design from the Yoga notebook. The soft hinge carries multiple usage methods – from a tabletop or lap typing position or when fully rotated – a pad style form factor more suited to standing or walking use.

The Pocket Yoga also comes with an elegant belt that wraps around its body. But mind you, the belt is not just a simple decoration because when it is removed, it becomes a mouse. Amazing, isn’t it? Though it is still considered as an experiment or concept system and no specs available for it as of now, it won’t be surprising if they release this very handy Yoga notebook in the coming months.

For now, you can get some Lenovo love here.
