HP Mini 210 HD Edition – The 10-inch High Definition Mini Monster

You don’t need a supercomputer to take down goliath applications and crunch high definition videos – sometimes a 10.1 inch mini is good enough especially if it’s HP. Introducing the latest addition to entry level HP netbook family, the new Mini 210 HD Edition. The slim and light design measures barely an inch thick and weighs only 2.69 pounds. On the outside, its aesthetics include the usual rounded corners, lightly curved lid edges, and a long tapered body typical of HP netbooks. The basic edition comes silver crystal but for a few extra bucks you can get the cooler sonoma red, pacific blue, black crystal, white crystal with white keyboard and preppy pink with pink keyboard colors. The keyboard is Island-style and about 93% of the standard size. The Mini 210 HD edition has 10.1” screen that natively supports 1,366×768 resolution for a full 720p HD experience. You can move your HD experience to the next level by adding an optional Broadcom Crystal HD Enhanced Video Accelerator to elevate your mobile entertainment into 1080p HD.

The entry level HP Mini 210 HD Edition relies on the latest Intel Atom N455 (1.66GHz) processor and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150 for reliable and energy-efficient performance. The default system memory is 1GB but it can be upgraded up to 2GB. Like other netbooks, it doesn’t come with an internal optical drive but it has 3 USB 2.0 ports to external peripheral devices and storage. Sadly, the default wireless access is still 802.11b/g but if you have the extra cash, it can be upgraded into much faster Wireless-N.

It also reveals its future plans which will further distinguish the famous netbook category and come up with products for new market segments to expand its PC, laptop, and server product lines. For the past weeks, Intel has released a wide variety of products for a wide range of market. These include a processor and MeeGo software designed for future in-vehicle infotainment of a Chinese carmaker named HawTai Automobile.

The company takes pride in releasing its greater than 50-times platform idle with the company’s next generation Atom processor platform for handheld gadgets like smartphones. USB Duet – Plug-and-play Connectivity For Easy Sharing of Contents, Speakers and Keyboard Between iPad and Netbook

Normally, establishing connectivity between PC to PC or even to other devices becomes complicated because of the need for special drivers, software, and other prerequisite set up. With USB Duet, everything is directly the opposite.

The USB Duet is a special solution created by PLX Technology, a primary international supplier of silicon and software interconnect solutions for user markets and projects. As the name implies, a standard USB cable easily enables a netbook PC to be connected to another PC or even to Apple iPad without the need for exclusive drivers or complex procedure. It is a combination of PLX-engineered hardware and application software that allows USB Duet-enabled computers to share optical disk drive, burn or rip CD/DVDs, execute HDD recovery, or upgrade OS to other PCs. It can also share contents and functionalities with the iPad like using a netbook keyboard instead of the iPad’s virtual keyboard, transfer audio files from iPad to laptop without the need for iTunes, and use the netbook’s speakers.

If the above functions of the USB Duet are already impressive, here’s more. It can reach from 480Mbps up to 5Gbps performance. It is even designed with a security connection that provides safe access to users of the virtual drive during file sharing. This kind of file sharing is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, and certain instant-ON OS. When a netbook is either in Log Off, Locked, Sleep/Hibernate, or Shutdown mode, access to virtual drive is restricted thus enforcing more security to data sharing.
