Fujitsu MH380 Netbook with Intel Pine Trail

Netbooks were definitely big this year. There were a lot of models to choose from with different brands but with almost the same specs. The netbook segment won’t just be like that since a new platform is coming to the successful Atom, the Pine Trail, and it is running on the Fujitsu MH380.

I know it might sound out of nowhere that the codename for Atom’s next generation platform is Pine Trail but here is the big improvement. The Pine Trail platform uses 2 chips instead of the previous 3 platform. This is done by combining the processor and graphics processing unit (GPU) on a single chip. With this, manufacturers now have the option of squeezing in more battery life or giving netbooks a speed boost. Fujitsu was one of the first to make a netbook on the Pine Trail with the MH380, but users still have to hold off their purchase since it will be launched early 2010. The specifications of the MH380 though have surfaced and it will come in Brown, Ivory, White, and Diamond Black and are designed exquisitely using chrome accents. It will have a 1.66GHz Atom N450 processor with 2GB of memory and 250GB of hard drive space. The usuals are also there like an SDHC card reader, 1.3 megapixel web cam, WiFi, and bluetooth. What’s unique with this netbook is the availability of a scroll wheel right beside the multi-gesture trackpad. It has also a sharing feature where it can connect to an ODD drive (DVD/CD) of home PCs and notebooks through a wireless or USB connection.
