Almost every gadget today has a mobile version, there’s the mobile TV, mobile radio, mobile phone and let’s not forget – the mobile internet device. And one of the most recent and notable mobile internet devices announced today is the new Rydeen Mobile Electronics’ GCOM701, also dubbed as the gPad. It’s a “slate†form factor device powered by the Android operating system. It runs on the latest Marvell 800 MHz ARMADA 166 mobile application processor with 2Gbit of on-board RAM that promises seamless connectivity, live and real-time content deliver, full media experience and a lengthy battery life.
The new device features a front-facing camera, removable memory and direct-access hardware buttons. It will come in a slim form factor either black or white and will be utilizing a 7-inch 800×480-pixel resolution TFT touch screen with ample space for internet surfing, reading eBooks and viewing pictures or movies in portrait or panoramic view. When it comes to connectivity options, the GCOM701 features an integrated WiFi (802.11 b/g) and GPS. The built-in Bluetooth, front mounted camera, internal microphone and speaker enable the use of web based communications services such as Skype and Yahoo Messenger.
The microSD slot accepts SDHC cards up to 32GB, giving plenty space to store songs, pictures and videos. It also has both standard and mini USB plugs to allow jump drives and portable devices to be plugged right in. Users can even use their favorite headphones thru 3.5mm headphone jack for personal listening. The gPad can also serve as a Portable Navigation Device with 4 million Points of Interest supplied by Navteq.
