Updates to Look Forward to in Gateway’s ID and NV Laptops

With the increasing number of new models of laptops being introduced today in the market, all the more that laptop manufacturers should continue to innovate their product lines in order to cope up to these changes. Acer, for one, has already had its day or two unveiling back-to-school laptops. Of course, they have seen the need of students to have new gadgets, so they launched them just in time. But their sister brand Gateway does not want to take the back seat either. They may not have new product line but they certainly have something more exciting in store and that is by updating their ID and NV laptops.

So what’s new for these Gateway laptops? Well both the 15.6-inch NV series and the 14-inch ID47 will now include USB 3.0 and a choice of Sandy Bridge processors. But for the entry-level NV, it has now an option for one of AMD’s fresh-off-the-line Llano chips. So if you are looking forward to having this entry-level, you can opt for this newest feature.

But the updates don’t end there. Gateway did more than just give its notebooks more exciting specs – it also made some tweaks to their product line-ups’ designs. For the NV series, there’s now an added chiclet keyboard while for the ID series, the metal-clad trackpad was made 20% larger and no longer glows like a mood ring. Also, the ID47 now features a 14-inch display that is crammed into a chassis which is often paired with 13.3 panels and this for sure will excite you even more – a non-removable battery that lasts up to 8 hours. Lenovo Classmate Plus PC – Information and Technology Made Affordable


It’s always heartwarming when leading technology companies and top computer vendors work together to contribute to humanity. Intel, the company that gave world the iCore, Atom and Xeon processors, some time ago developed the reference design of the Classmate PC – a cost effective netbook specially engineered for children living in developing countries with limited access to modern technology. Lenovo, taking advantage of Intel’s information and communication technologies development campaign, collaborated with the semi-conductor chip giant and added some modifications on their own to the Classmate PC. The result is the Lenovo Classmate Plus PC, a purpose-specific notebook designed to work with and improve the learning experience of students in grades K-8. This educational gadget offers schools and similar institutions an affordable, educational and complete hardware and software solution tailored for children. One of the first who’ll get their hands on the Lenovo Classmate Plus laptop will be the 158,000 beneficiaries of the Organization of Ibero-American States’ Conectar Igualdad 1:1 computing program.

Being a product of Intel-Lenovo team-up, the Classmate Plus nothing short of a fully functional computer: it features an Intel N455 Atom processor, Ethernet and Wi-Fi Internet connectivity, Windows 7 operating system and high-capacity storage up to 250 GB HDD or up to 16GB SSD. It also has a 10.1-inch anti-glare LED backlit screen, a 1.3 megapixel camera, multiple USB ports and a 4-in-1 card reader. Furthermore, this PC will come pre-installed with Intel’s specialized educational software plus a collection of teaching resources.

Acer Starts the Year With Three New Intel Core i7 Notebooks

Intel’s latest Core i7 2630QM has quite the head start this year as Acer decided to launch three new lines of Aspire notebooks based on this new generation quad-core processor. Acer Aspire 5750, 5750G and 7750G will take advantage of Intel Core i7′s Sandy Bridge microarchitechture that features Turbo Boost 2.0 technology, smart graphics power on demand, cutting-edge communication and surround sound capabilities. All three will have different graphic options: the 5750G is outfitted with NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M discrete graphics with full DirectX 11 support and NVIDIA Optimus hybrid graphics engine.

On the other hand, the 7750G comes with a choice of ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6550 or 6650 discrete GPU. The Aspire 5750 and 7750G comes preloaded with up to 6GB of system memory; out of the two, the 5750 can be further upgraded up to 8GB by using two 4GB modules. When it comes to storage, 7750G can accommodate 750GB capacity drives and 5750 up to 640GB. The notebooks are encased in black, matte mesh pattern that resists smudges and scratches. All three models have LED backlit 1600 x 900 displays. Aspire 5750 and 5750G measures at 15.6-inches, while the 7750G is at 17.3-inches.

All three laptops will also feature Dolby Advanced Audio v2 virtual surround sound and HDMI ports, with the 7750G having an optional BluRay drive. The new Aspire 5750, 5750G and 7750G notebooks are available now at select retailers, starting at $899.99 for the Aspire 5750 and 5750G, and $1029.99 for the Aspire 7750G.

Dell Vostro V130 – Because You Asked for More

Dell seems to take criticisms very seriously; case in point is when it was pointed out that their Vostro laptop line lacks an HDMI port. In response, Dell didn’t just add an HDMI on their latest addition to their Vostro family but they also added an extra USB 2.0 port and a SIM card slot. The new Dell Vostro V130, like its predecessors, is tailor made for the businessman on-the-go. It combines nothing but only the best in style, form factor, durability and security.

You can’t ask for a sexier laptop as this 13-inch supermodel simply measures 0.65 in. front and 0.78 in. back. It’s also amazingly light for its size with base models starting only at 3.5 lbs. Don’t underestimate the thin and light appearance though, it’s made from a durable aluminum further reinforced with zinc hinges and magnesium alloy palm rest to help it survive daily abuse. Underneath the tough exterior is another world’s first from Dell, the Vostro V130 is the first ultra-thin laptop that will offer Intel’s advanced Hyperbaric Cooling technology that helps keep the system running at optimal temperature – quietly.

The V130 will run on Windows 7 and a choice of an Intel Core i3 or i5 ULV processor making it a very powerful business solution. Other specifications are 13.3-inch High Definition WLED display, full sized keyboard, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi and optional WiMAX technology in US territories. The new Dell Vostro will be available in Lucerne Red and Aberdeen Silver starting at $429.00.
