New Multi-Screen Display System from Sharp

by lyn_l on 11/06/10 at 6:23 am

Sharp Corporation is proud to announce its newly-developed multi-screen display system that’s recognized for achieving the world’s thinnest system frame width of 6.5mm. The said display system will be released in the Japanese market August of this year. Built on the new PN-V601 60V-inch professional LCD monitor, which is aimed to make the seams between bezels unobtrusive and make way for large multi-screen displays. The width of bezels between adjacent displays is 6.5mm. This allows practical applications like single large-screen video wall displays and makes new possibilities in presentation spaces that can’t be achieved through conventional methods.

The system’s PN-V601 comes with a full-array LED backlight. These LED elements are arranged in an evenly spaced line to achieve uniform brightness. This results to even brightness in the display area when making multi-screen configurations. When you combine the optional PN-ZR01 Control Kit with multiple PN-V601 LCD monitors, you will have the ability to control all displays via a single remote control unit. The unit also promises high energy efficiency by controlling the brightness of the backlight through a brightness sensor in order to match the lighting at the installation location.

You can also choose to avail the optional Interface Expansion Board which offers additional inputs including component video, DVI-D, and LAN. Sharp won’t stop in this unit. It will continue to build remarkable, one-of-a-kind units based on the company’s proprietary LCD technologies. This company will also work to put up network-based content distribution systems which deliver optimum solutions to meet the demands of its customers.

Sony Cybershot DSC-TX1 Got Engraved for Christmas

by jrjuan on 06/12/09 at 12:00 pm

003-450x337The Cybershot name from Sony could be one that might pop up when people are randomly asked about the point and shoot digital camera that they prefer. But who could blame Sony for creating such beautiful digital cameras paired with their marketing efforts that explains the heavy price tags on their devices. They even made one of their cameras, the TX1 in line this season by pimpin’ it out with snowflake engravings along with Safari, Race, and Heart designs.

001-450x337The Sony Cybershot DSC-TX1 is a 10.1 megapixel shooter equipped with the latest BIONZ image processor that makes photos appear vivid and clear. The 4x optical zoom with 8x digital zoom allows you to take pictures of subjects that are out of reach. It has a Vario-Tessar folding lens so no bulky retracting lens that might cramp up your style. The wide 3″ touch screen is easy to navigate and bright enough to be used even outdoors. It has several features like the Optical SteadyShot, Face Detection of up to 8 faces, Smile Shutter, and the iAuto Mode which senses the surroundings and selects the best setting needed to capture the moment. Other cool features include high speed shooting which take 10 shots per second and the 720p video capture resolution.

The Sony Cybershot DSC-TX1 is indeed a good point and shoot especially that a lot of moments can be captured this yuletide season. However, the engraving options aren’t available in the US since it is a Japan exclusive. But hey, with the color options of Silver, Pink, Gray, and Blue, you might not need that fancy engraving after all.

Dream Imagery – Extract images from our dreams and view them on your computer.

by rheaver on 11/12/08 at 11:21 pm

Japan’s ATR Computational Neuroscience Laboratories have developed dream imagery technology. Researchers have been able to extract, reconstruct, and view dream images through brain analysis. This technology is real; they have viewed brain images that were ingrained into a patient for experimental use right on a computer screen. They claim that this is only the first step, soon this technology will be available to use at home where you can view your spouse, children, friends, or just your own dreams on your home computer.

Scientists found this technology possible by analyzing changes in the cerebral blood flow with a MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) machine. Test subjects were shown black-and-white images, 10 x 10 pixels, for 12 seconds each. The changes that occurred were monitored with a MRI machine and then the data was used to associate the various changes with the different images, thus producing image designs. Once the image design was produced the test subjects were shown a simple word with large black and white letters, the system correctly displayed what they had been shown and the word appeared on the computer screen.

This technology is a breakthrough in brain analysis, not all applications are known yet but currently Dr. Kang Cheng, a researcher from the RIKEN Brain Science Institute, perceives this as a way to begin the quest into seeing people’s thoughts. Currently Dr. Cheng suggests this technology could be helpful to artists and artistic people, sometimes they have images “locked” in their minds that they can’t seem to reproduce, maybe now they can use this technology to turn them into masterpieces.

Another Hello Kitty Laptop “Proof the PC Generation is Getting Younger Everyday”

by rheaver on 02/12/08 at 10:51 pm

This year three companies have launched a Hello Kitty Laptop. In October, NEC launched a Vista notebook featuring the Hello Kitty design. In November, Onkyo Japan introduced the Sotec C1 Hello Kitty “netbook”. December 10, Epson will distribute their Hello Kitty Laptop with an Intel Celeron CPU, 1GB memory, 80GB hard drive, and a 15.4 inch WXGA screen. It is also equipped with WiFi capability, Windows Vista, a DVD drive, and is modified with Hello Kitty wallpaper, screensavers, and icons. This design definitely makes a statement about what age group they are marketing.

As the world becomes more automated, and the internet becomes a larger part of our society, it makes sense to design laptops for children. Toy manufacturers have produced learning tools that are similar to laptops in design and style but were not fully functional. Japan took the step of putting actual computers into the hands of preschoolers. The software available for preschoolers is enormous, the amount of pre-education children can get from a computer is endless, this idea turns an awesome piece of technology into a fun toy.

With the technology of a pc and the marketing strategy for children we could see an increase in our children’s overall education. If children start school already computer literate it would help schools integrate computer lab programs for younger students. There are better job opportunities for those with technological knowledge, especially computer literacy. If we start teaching children about computers at the preschool level we can only improve their chances later in life.
