ASUS U33JC: A Bamboo Laptop with Powerful Features

Ever seen a laptop made of bamboo? Not a lot, I would say. Until a few years ago, laptops and wood seemed impossible to combine. And even when bamboo laptop innovations have been introduced, they hadn’t really been widespread. Now, ASUS introduces its newest venture in the bamboo-laptop trend – the newest ASUS U33JC that is covered with bamboo. If you haven’t seen any bamboo laptop yet, it may be hard to imagine. But, the laptop actually looks great. It looks classic and traditional, very sophisticated in its own sense.

And when you flip the laptop open, you’ll still see bamboo – the palmrest and the touchpad. ASUS utilized a special decoration with advanced sensor capabilities to make it possible to cover the touchpad with the said material. And while we’ve gone oohs and aahs with the laptop’s physical attributes, the internal is as amazing. It features a 2.4GHz Core i3-370M CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce 310M GPU with 1GB of VRAM. Plus, it has the following features:

  • 13.3-inch, 1366 x 768-resolution display
  • 2-megapixel webcam with a latch
  • 4GB DDR3 1066 MHz
  • 500GB SATA hard drive (5400 rpm)
  • 2.0M Webcam
  • 1 x USB 3.0 + 2 x USB 2.0
  • 1 x VGA port/1 x RJ45/2 x audio jacks/HDMI port
  • 6-cell 2.2Ah/ 8-cell 2.2Ah/8-cell 2.8Ah
  • 328 x 232 x 14-32 mm dimensions/1.7kg with 6-cell battery
  • Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

The ASUS U33JC-A1 13.3-Inch Bamboo Laptop, however, doesn’t come with an optical drive. It’s also quite thicker and heavier, measuring 1.2 inches thick and weighing 4.5 pounds. The device is offered at $999. More than its power, it’s ideal for those who want something different and something that is not only durable but also environment-friendly.
