Experience 6 Times the Cute Factor with New SANRIO MIMOBOT USB Flash Drives

Before Nintendo gave birth to Pikachu and other Pokémon, there was Sanrio’s Hello Kitty and friends. And as part of SANRIO’ 50th anniversary celebration, Mimoco, renowned creator of MIMOBOT stylish USB flash drives, added six special SANRIO characters to its series of USB drives this summer in addition to the already popular Hello Kitty Mimobot designs. The first batches of SANRIO character that are available now are My Melody, Chococat, and Tuxedo Sam MIMOBOT flash drives.

My Melody is an honest, good-natured and almond pound cake loving character born in the forest of Mari Land and is one of SANRIO’s most popular classic characters. Chococat, who got his name from his chocolate-colored nose, is just new to the Sanrio family and he is a little boy cat with antenna whiskers. The third addition is Tuxedo Sam, a bow-tie wearing penguin born in the South Pole who is fluent in both Penguinese and English. My Melody, TuxedoSam and Chococat anniversary characters are available now at Mimoco and Sanrio websites as well as other retailers worldwide. The remaining three additional characters – Hangyodon, Badtz-Maru and Hello Kitty Classic will be added to the MIMOBOT SANRIO lines shortly.

The new SANRIO MIMOBOT flash drives are available in memory capacities ranging from 2GB to 16GB and come pre-loaded with special MIMOBOT-themed content desktop wallpapers, icons, avatars, screensavers and videos specific to each character.

9.1 Megapixel Hello Kitty Camera: Pink Overdose

casio-hello-kitty

Hello Kitty, introduced in 1974, could be the most recognizable cat in the world. Even though it has been about 35 years since the cat’s introduction, Hello Kitty licensed merchandise never seem to have stopped flowing even to our modern age right now. A good example is this camera from Casio.

This Exilim camera is pimped out to scream pink and cuteness (or kawaii for a more authentic Japanese touch) wherever this is brought. Pink colored cameras are long present like ones from Sony or Canon or from other manufacturers, but they are nowhere near this level of pinkness.

Aside from its brushed metal body, which is great by the way, colored in pink, it has laser etching in the front bearing Hello Kitty’s name and face along with stars sparkling all over. If all of the laser etched stars weren’t enough, pink rhinestones in the rim of the lens were also placed for good measure. But of course, it is all kitty in the inside, it has a  Hello Kitty splash screen as you turn on the camera just to assure you that you’re holding a Kitty cam.

Of course, the usual is present since this is a digital camera in the first place: like image stabilization, red eye reduction, 3x optical zoom, SHDC slot and .MOV format videos.

This pink overdose piece of hardware costs around $525 in Japan (ouch!).

Another Hello Kitty Laptop “Proof the PC Generation is Getting Younger Everyday”

This year three companies have launched a Hello Kitty Laptop. In October, NEC launched a Vista notebook featuring the Hello Kitty design. In November, Onkyo Japan introduced the Sotec C1 Hello Kitty “netbook”. December 10, Epson will distribute their Hello Kitty Laptop with an Intel Celeron CPU, 1GB memory, 80GB hard drive, and a 15.4 inch WXGA screen. It is also equipped with WiFi capability, Windows Vista, a DVD drive, and is modified with Hello Kitty wallpaper, screensavers, and icons. This design definitely makes a statement about what age group they are marketing.

As the world becomes more automated, and the internet becomes a larger part of our society, it makes sense to design laptops for children. Toy manufacturers have produced learning tools that are similar to laptops in design and style but were not fully functional. Japan took the step of putting actual computers into the hands of preschoolers. The software available for preschoolers is enormous, the amount of pre-education children can get from a computer is endless, this idea turns an awesome piece of technology into a fun toy.

With the technology of a pc and the marketing strategy for children we could see an increase in our children’s overall education. If children start school already computer literate it would help schools integrate computer lab programs for younger students. There are better job opportunities for those with technological knowledge, especially computer literacy. If we start teaching children about computers at the preschool level we can only improve their chances later in life.
