Toshiba STOR.E STEEL AND ALUMINUM – The Heavy Duty Storage Solution


Toshiba introduced two new external hard drives that look more to may have been made in their ore refinery and forges rather than their research and development department. The STOR.E STEEL S and STOR.E ALU 2S are two metal-encased high capacity external hard drives that feature the latest USB 3.0 interface boasting data transfer rates of up to 5 Gigabits per second. Their metallic enclosures add robustness and durability to their design. The STOR.E ALU 2S will come in either black or silver brushed aluminum while the STEEL S will come in silver, black, or titanium colored steel.

Although the STEEL S and ALU 2S are based on a USB 3.0 interface, both are still backwards compatible with the more widely used USB 2.0 interfaces. The two external drives are Toshiba’s answer to demands of a reliable, large capacity, and fast storage solution fit for the new digital age. The two models offer users a quick way to transfer their large digital files like videos, music, and images from a computer to a back up storage, and vice versa.

The Toshiba STOR.E STEEL S and STOR.E ALU 2S come in a 2.5-inch form factor with capacities up to 1 Terabyte. The external drives are powered by a USB connection. With their durable, portable and lightweight design, these large capacity external HDDs are the ideal mobile storage medium. The STOR.E ALU 2S is also available with a 3.5-inch hard disk best for stationary home or office use. Seagate Savvio 10K.3, Savvio 15K.3 and Constellation ES.2 – The Ultimate Enterprise HDD Storage Solution


Seagate is leading an invasion of HDD-based enterprise storage solution and its three new next generation hard drives – the Seagate Savvio 10K.3, Savvio 15K.3 and Constellation ES.2 are leading the way. The Savvio 10K.3 is a 2.5-inch small form factor enterprise level hard disk drive that offers a high performance, solid reliability and large capacity solution for tier 1 and mission-critical server storage. It’s the first and only 2.5-inch 10,000 RPM drive that’s available in 300, 450, 600, and 900GB capacity on a single device. It comes in either 6 GB/s SAS or 4 GB Fiber Channel interfaces. The other model, the 15K.3 is a top of the line HDD optimized for tier 1 storage systems. It comes at 146 and 300 GB capacities, and it was designed to be an affordable storage option for performance systems and other wide variety of IT applications. The Savvio 10K.5 and Savvio 15K.3 additionally feature Protection Information for increased data integrity and an optional Self-Encrypting Drive for data privacy and protection. Both models also have a reliability rating of 0.44% AFR and 2 millions hours MTBF further backed by a 5-year warranty.

The Constellation ES.2 is a fifth generation 3.5-inch 3 Terabyte HDD that features one of the industry’s highest capacity and lowest operating power. It sports a third generation SAS interface and SAS-based Protection Information for end-to-end data reliability. Other HDD technology incorporated are Self-Encrypted Drive option, Rotational Vibration Feed Forward technology that maintains drive performance even when used in tight multi-drive system applications, and a PowerChoice on-demand low power option that helps keep the drive run on optimum temperature. The Constellation ES.2 can come in either 6 GB/s SATA or SAS interfaces.

This SSD storage is built for the actual, complex, and varying loads of an enterprise environment.

The two second generation SSD models are backed by years of Seagate experience and have achieved a 0.44% AFE and 2 million-hour MTBF rating for unmatched data reliability.
