Samsung ST80 Lets You Instantly Share Photos using Wireless Technology

Aside from good news, photos are also exciting to instantly share with. And to make this possible, you might need a digital camera that can let you share photos while on the move. The latest offer from Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. can grant this necessity without a PC.
The ST80 is the newest member of Samsung’s digital cameras that uses wireless technology. Since it is Wi-Fi enabled, users can easily and instantly share photos anytime and anywhere thus keeping family and friends right on track. Additionally, the ST80 utilizes Samsung’s AllShare (DNLA) connectivity that allows users to simply sync the digital camera to conventional DLNA-compliant (Digital Living Network Alliance) devices like HDTVs and digital photo frames and even connect to each of these electronics wirelessly.

Those features are not just what the Samsung ST80 is all about. Further impressive factors include 14.2-megapixel resolution, 720p HD video in H.264 format with 1280×720 at 30fps, 3x optical zoom lens, 3.0 WQVGA touch screen, Boingo mobile hotspot account, and connection to social networking sites such as Facebook, Picasa, YouTube, Photo Bucket, and www.samsungimaging.com. To provide better point and shoot control, the ST80 has Smart Auto that automatically adjusts settings based on the current shooting environment as well as Smart Crop that allows users to crop taken images at any angle then straightens them to provide a better snapshot.

Mamiya DM22 & DM28 DSLRs: Sub-$10k “entry-level”

If you want to take pictures like a pro, instead of going for the ubiquitous consumer DSLR cameras, you should try your hands at high-end professional equipments. However, a nice professional DSLR camera would cost anything around $10k to $15k. Remember, the more money you are willing to spend, the better will be the technical specifications of the camera. But are you ready to pay more for a camera than the asking price of some cars?DM22-28-header

Mamiya, synonymous with professional photography, has introduced a new 22-megapixel, 36×48mm digital camera selling for $9,995. The Mamiya DM22, slated for November delivery, is the perfect choice for photographers when 35mm-sized DSLRs are not good enough. The 16bit/channel RAW files help to produce impressive images. And to produce the finest quality pictures incorporating the professional touch, users can process using Capture One, Leaf Capture, or Adobe Lightroom.

Now, if you are willing to fish out some more money, instead of the Mamiya DM22, you can purchase the Mamiya DM28 for $14,990. DM28 shares most of the features of DM22 except that it has better sensor and ISO range. And the DM28 is, you guessed it, a 28-megapixel camera. The DM22 features a 48×36mm sensor, 5356×4056 pixels, and an ISO range of 25-400 while the DM28 features a 44×33mm, 6144×4622 pixels, and an ISO range of 50-800. The RAW file is the Mosaic format, HDR-type, with 16 bits/channel and a dynamic range of 12 f/stops. Image storage is either on a CF card or via FireWire.

Both cameras come with the sharp Mamiya 80mm f/2.8 D Series lens, focal plane shutter, and are fully compatible with any Mamiya AF focal plane series lens. In addition, they can be used with older 645MF and Hasselblad lenses (via #310-244 adapter), both in stop-down mode. The DM28, like the DM22, will be up for grabs from November. So, you may want to start searching your couch for pennies to pick up either of these units.

Sony Cyber-shot Digital Camera HX1 Review

If you’re still having second thoughts about purchasing the Sony Cyber-shot HX1, perhaps after reading this week’s Editor’s Choice, you’ll make up your mind.DSCHX1

Announced in March 2009, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX1 is said to be the competitor of Canon’s PowerShot SX1 IS. Now, let’s get into the details.

Product Summary:

The good:

The Cyber-shot HX1 has the ability to shoot 9MP images at 10 frames per second. Its high speed mechanical shutter captures each frame without the distortion common with electronic shutters. Its powerful 20x optical zoom G lens ranges from 28mm wide angle to 560mm telephoto. With Sweep Panorama, you can capture wide-angle views that extend beyond human vision – up to 224 degrees. Furthermore, the Cyber-shot HX1 features CMOS sensor that cuts image noise in low-light conditions like dusk or dimly-lit interiors. And there’s another great trick up its sleeve. It shoots High Definition movie clips at 1080/30p resolution.

The bad:

There’s no option to adjust the JPEG compression, and as such, unsurprisingly no RAW support either. This is an area where the Canon SX1 IS takes the lead with a variety of compression choices, along with a RAW option [for models running the latest firmware]. Panasonic’s FZ28 also offers a RAW mode. And yes, it is equipped with an electronic viewfinder [EVF] as an alternative means of composition. But, it’s small enough compared to the relatively large [but subsequently course-looking] view of the EVF’s in Canon’s SX1 IS.

Bottom line:

While the HX1 may not feature RAW file recording, it’s fast and has some really useful features. So, does this combine to make a compelling package that should command your money?
