The Amazon Kindle Fire is the third smallest Kindle; it’s bigger than Kindle and Kindle Touch and yet smaller than Kindle Keyboard and Kindle DX. It merely measures 7.5 x 4.7 inches – small enough to fit inside a purse or be held in one hand. This tablet is powered by a dual core processor and comes with 8GB internal storage, the largest among other models. A USB 2.0 port is included for connectivity, data transfers, and charging. Top mounted stereo speakers provide the audio but it can still be expanded via the 3.5 mm standard audio jack.
Kindle Fire loses out to the earlier Kindle models only in terms of battery life, the latter can last up to three weeks and even up to two months while the former, with its high resolution colored multi-touchscreen, can only sustain continuous reading for up to 8 hours and movie playback up to 7.5 hours. That aside, Amazon’s Kindle Fire is probably one of the most promising tablets out there that can easily stand on its own in a sea of branded eBooks readers, tablet PCs, and iPad wannabes.
