Nikon Coolpix eXtreme: The All Weather Camera

Though Nikon is not the first to release weatherproof cameras, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t do its part in bringing in such cameras to this part of the world. Yes, Olympus, Canon, and Panasonic have all jumped into the tough/weatherproof camera market and this has left Nikon aficionados wanting one of their own. Well, Nikon fanatics, we’ve got news for you – you will have a tougher companion for your D300s. Don’t get too excited though, as the Nikon Coolpix eXtreme point-and-shoot camera is still a concept.

Nikon may not be synonymous with sleek designs but the Coolpix eXtreme aims to change that. And unlike those from Panasonic, Canon, or Olympus — the Nikon Coolpix eXtreme is very sexy. A designer piece from Yakon Design by artist Camillo Vanacore, the Nikon Coolpix eXtreme features a curved, sand-weathered-stone body shape and a continuous LCD on the back panel. As contemporary as it is however, the sleekness seems to slip out of a user’s hand easily.

Let’s just wait for Nikon to grab this concept and make it as its first entry in tough camera market. For now, why don’t you check on other Nikon goodies here?

Just how many threats does the iPhone have to have? Nokia hopes 3 would be enough.

Let’s start with the most affordable one, shall we?

Radio function in mobile phones is nothing new for us. So why is Nokia boasting of their new “radio” XpressMusic phone? Well the Nokia 5030 doesn’t seem like it has nothing new to offer. But for kids who are getting their first ever spanking new mobile phone, this may be hard to overlook. It can do a full 24-hours of nonstop radio. Oh, and since it’s a radio phone — there’s a one-touch button to take you to the function, as well as help you scroll through the stations. Good enough for the little ones, I suppose.

Reliving N-Gage? Now we’re getting somewhere. The Nokia 5730 is still part of the XpressMusic line, but this is the only one that has a slide-out QWERTY keypad. It’s for listening to your tunes, emailing on the go, and full SMS typing speed. Oh, and the best bit? The Nokia 5730 is pre-packed with N-Gage games, and the keypad has dedicated gaming keys. A gaming console slash mobile phone slash music player. Not too shabby.

And for those who love the nightlife, and love to boogie….or ahem, rather can’t get ’nuff ravin’ at the club scene — then pack in some bling with your phone. The Nokia 5330 will definitely be an irresistable eye candy for those who are never missing in the social scene. Why? Not only can this phone pack in 3,000 songs with its 2GB micro-SD card, your social network is available via a shortcut widget on the phone homescreen. So the Nokia 5330 is a mobile phone slash music player slash portable twitter and facebook and myspace and what-have-you. Phew! Sign me up!

All these and more are available by second quarter of this year. It’ll soon be high time to upgrade those phones, folks.
