Gateway computers are geared up for 2011 and the future as they equipped their lines of multimedia, high-performance and small-form factor desktop PCs with the second generation Sandy Bridge-based Intel Core processors. The FX high-performance and DX multimedia series PCs will take advantage of the new CPUs and Intel H67 Express Chipset, getting all the horsepower needed to fuel the most demanding resource intensive applications.
The Core i7 2600 will go with the new FX6850-51 while the Core i5 lineup will go with the factory fresh DX4350-43, DX4850-27e and DX4850-45. Gateway’s SX small-form-factor PCs will get to choose between AMD or Intel processors. The 2nd generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors offer a significant boost in performance by using Intel’s latest Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 and Hyper-Threading Technology. Furthermore, the FX line gets to have the sweet GeForce GT440 graphics card with 1.5GB of video memory – turning it to a high-performance gaming machine without high cost. The DX series gets a NVIDIA GeForce graphics or Intel HD Graphics 2000 option. As for the SX, they also get to choose between Intel or NVIDIA graphics.
Both the SX small form factor PC and DX Multimedia PC will come in a sleek glossy black case with an illuminated side panel. The front panel’s curved top edge provides quick access to the I/O ports. SX now has a device deck for mounting portable devices, a feature only previously seen in the DX series. Up to 8GB of RAM is supported on the new Intel H67 Express Chipset based machines; all models have optional Blu-ray and come with either 1TB or 1.5TB variable RPM green hard drives as standard.
