Smartbook is Not Your Usual Tablet Computer

This year is gonna be the year of tablet computers or slate computers if you want a “cooler” term. Though there seems to be some standardization when it comes to the specs (much like what happened with netbooks), a good sense of futurism every now and then is always a nice experience.

The Smartbook isn’t your run-of-the-mill tablet computer because it isn’t just a computer, it is also a phone. While sim card modules of computers enable users to make a call or send a text message, the feeling is still quite different. On the Smartbook, you basically have a tablet computer and a cellphone. The tablet computer works just like a regular portable computer with the capability to edit documents, read e-books, connect to the internet, and even play a few games. But the cool thing here is the included fold-up keyboard is also a cellphone. Once folded up, it turns into a familiar candy bar design with a touch screen interface for dialing and basic menu navigation.
An interesting solution to the dilemma of charging two devices is solved by the concept of “synchronized charging”. The principle is quite simple. Let’s say you charge the tablet computer and is using the keyboard at the same time. The keyboard can connect to the tablet device magnetically and they now charge at the same time. This way, both devices will always be ready to work in harmony with each other as one is always at pace with the other’s battery level.
