IBM/Lenovo has been known to produce top quality laptops that are suited for professionals and businessmen. While they also cater to the younger generation via the ideapad line which comes with some aesthetics, it cannot be ignored that professionals users are still what they are known for. But have you seen some ThinkPad laptops? They are priced quite high which could almost make the laptop a status symbol if you may.
However, Lenovo is saying that “consider the bar raised” with the new ThinkPad ultraportable that they are about to release. The ThinkPad X100e is Lenovo’s first professional grade ultraportable. Saying that they are raising the bar in the ultraportable laptop segment is quite of a marketing line but do they really mean it? Let’s see.
The X100 has an 11.6″ LED backlit HD screen which is like a netbook since most ultraportables have a 13″ or 13.3″ screen. With its small screen, it still managed to have a full sized keyboard that is even spill resistant so splashing your drink while working wouldn’t mean total disaster at all. It has a multi-touch trackpad to efficiently navigate but nothing a mouse couldn’t do. Depending on the configuration, it has a 3lb starting weight which is light but a must for ultraportables. But what separates the X100e from the rest is the so called Lenovo enhanced experience. This include the worlwide support, robust warranty options, and professional reliability. The processor isn’t yet announced but it is an AMD. Available in Midnight Black and Heatwave Red, you can choose which type of business person you want your laptop to say. Expect full details about this and other ThinkPads at CES 2010.
