Every company seems to be building their own tablet computer much like what happened when netbooks became the “it” thing. If you feel that $499 is just too much and want a plain simple tablet computer, then the iLet Mini HAL might catch your attention at just $199.
This little tablet has a 7″ 800×480 touch screen display and an Android 1.6 (Ocean) interface with lots of pre-loaded apps. You can even download more free applications through iConnect of Haleron or get premium paid apps at the Android Marketplace. The whole system is being run on a 600Mhz VIA processor and 128MB RAM. There is 2GB of flash memory on board which can be expanded using a 32GB memory card or even a 250GB external hard drive.
What you can do on this tablet computer is play mp3 music, watch .avi or .mpg videos, read ebooks or even do office productivity applications such as documents, spreadsheets, and slideshow presentations. Of course, you can surf the internet on this thing which allows you to visit your facebook anywhere as long as you have internet connection. You can connect to the internet via WiFi, ethernet cable, or 3G USB. There are two USB ports, one SD card slot, one mic in, and a 3.5mm audio out. There is also a stereo speaker to play audio out loud. All of this result to a total of 16 hours runtime and 72 hours standby time – not bad for an internet tablet.
What you can do on the ilet Mini HAL is really more of internet surfing and some casual documents or presentation check while on the go. There is also an option to have Windows CE 6.0 instead of Android for an added $25.
