Just as there’s a sucker born every minute, there’s also a revolutionary gadget born every minute. Netgear and Ericsson have combined each of their specific industry leading field expertise to launch the new Netgear MBRN3300E 3G Mobile Broadband Router. This device effectively merged 3G connectivity with the latest 802.11n wireless access point and Ethernet LAN. On the outside, the MBRN3300 may look like your standard 802.11n router, with its four Ethernet ports and AC adapter. Inside is an integrated 3G HSPA or EV-DO modem which allows users to connect to the Internet using mobile 3G network when Ethernet-based connectivity is not available. This means that you can always “share the loot†with others devices through an impromptu wireless hotspot or hook up pre-historic gadgets without wireless connectivity through physical LAN Ethernet cable. The MBRN3300E essentially has the following features:
• Internal 3G Wireless Data Modem and antennas ( 3 models up to 20Mbps)
• 4 – 10/100 Ethernet LAN Ports
• 802.1n Wi-Fi Access Point with WPS (compatible with 802.11g/b devices)
• Firewall
Performance wise, the Netgear MBRN3300E is all about speed and security, it can reach speeds up to 270 Mbps on wireless LAN while featuring a full pledged firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection and intrusion control features.
The 3G connectivity and 802.11n functionality may not exactly excite the casual home bound customer, but those features can be a lifesaver for travelers who are stuck in places with expensive, limited or worst – no internet connections.
