Sony Unveils New PSP Go

Sony Computer Entertainment president, Kaz Hirai, showed off the latest hand-held gaming console at a press conference in the Shrine Auditorium as a major Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3) got under way nearby in Los Angeles. Yes, Sony has unveiled a sleek next-generation hand-held videogame, movie and music gadget in a direct challenge to Nintendo’s freshly-launched DSi devices – the PSP Go.

According to Hirai, Go is intended for people who live a more digital lifestyle. “It is designed to bring all kinds of content to the PSP”, he added.

Comes with a 3.8-inch display, 16GB of built-in memory plus a memory stick micro slot, Go is half the size of the original PSP and built to download and store video, pictures, and games. It has built in wireless Internet and Bluetooth capabilities. A new Sense Me feature analyzes music stored in the PSP Go and then creates playlists to suit user’s mood.

All future PSP videogame titles will be available for digital download, skipping any need to buy software on disks, according to Sony. Additionally, hot videogame franchises including “Gran Turismo,” “Metal Gear Solid,”, and Resident Evil” are making new games tailored to the PSP Go.

The Sony PSP Go will be priced at $249 or 249 Euros respectively, once released in the United States and Europe in October; and it will be offered in Japan in November, according to Sony.
