Plantronics Voyager PRO Bluetooth Headset Review

The popularity of Bluetooth headsets has seriously increased over the past couple of years. Everyone – from teenagers to businessmen are investing in Bluetooth headsets and using them when making and taking calls. And here’s yet another Bluetooth headset from a well-known manufacturer of portable audio systems – Plantronics. Dubbed as Voyager PRO, this extremely comfortable, behind-the-ear headset is further proof of Plantronics’ 40-plus years of commitment to headset engineering excellence.

voyagerprodProduct Summary:

The Voyager PRO is the most advanced noise-canceling Bluetooth headset available. While rivals like Aliph’s Jawbone PRIME have aimed for compact and jewel-like with their design, Plantronics have definitely put function over form. Two noise-canceling mics on a boom, AudioIQ technology with its adaptive 20-band equalizer, and three layers of WindSmart technology ensure that you hear every word and that your voice is heard clearly despite the noise around you. Hardware controls are minimal, basically comprising a large multifunction power/pairing/call-answer/call-end key and a small volume rocker.

The good:

It features three layers of protection from wind noise, fast-charging, long-lasting battery, and voice prompts alert battery and mute status. And surprisingly, despite its bulk, the Voyager PRO proved comfortable to wear. Tipping the scales at 0.6oz, but spreading that weight across the whole ear, you could realistically sport the Plantronics all day without tiring of it.

The bad:

A status LED sits above the main button, putting it right behind your ear, which seems awkward [because of its positioning, the multifunction key requires a firm grip on the headset].

Bottom line:

If you are willing to sacrifice style for comfort, and to some extent, performance, this thing is for you.
