Introducing VRD-MC6 – A Multi-Function DVDirect DVD Recorder

Let me introduce to you Sony’s DVDirect DVD recorder – VRD-MC6, which can transfer both high-definition and standard-definition home videos as well as digital photos to DVD discs. And take note, without the need of a computer from virtually any camcorder, VCR or digital video recorder.

The device comes with a 2.7â€ color LCD display that lets you preview video or up to six digital photos at a time. It is capable of transferring AVCHD quality videos to DVD discs in their native 1080i HD resolution when hooked directly to a Sony hard drive or Memory Stick media-based Handycam camcorder. AVCHD quality DVDs can also be played back on compatible Blu-ray Disc devices, including players and computer drives, as well as PS3 consoles.

Additionally, the VRD-MC6 supports slots for Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Memory Stick Duo, and Memory Stick Pro Duo media, SD/SDHC and xD-picture card media formats. Users can also import their own MP3 music files to serve as background music. Up to 6 hours of standard-definition video, up to 95 minutes of AVCHD video or up to 2,000 photos can be recorded on a 4.7GB DVD+R/+RW disc.

This machine which maintains Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound is expected to hit the market in September and will retail for around $299.
